Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

When filming our preliminary task I took control of the group, in doing so I wanted to try and develop our groups understanding of media and its equipment. To do this we all tried different camera shots and played around with editing our piece to really get to grips with our software. This, i believe is the reason why I am so pleased with the final look of my full product.

One of the main things i have learnt is how to formulate an idea and evolve it while considering our limitations. As a school we are very limited to the programs we have and because of this we simply cant achieve some of the ideas that we would like. However during the preliminary phase, looking through our software and cameras and getting use to them allowed me to fully understand what was and wasnt possible.

This was our preliminary task result. There are some camera shots in here that i believed worked very well and some that i dont think worked as well. However trying them all out gave me a real understanding of how the media process works and really aided to my final piece in the full product.

I also learnt how different camera shots gave different effects. For example in the hallway shot we originally used lots of short cuts but we soon realised this gave a much more action/adventure look to our piece and that longer shots added much more tension to the shot and allowed the audience to really get into it.
